We want you to know we appreciate your potential selection of the SSI Training Facility, which provides Scuba Schools International training aids and standards — the finest the scuba industry has to offer. You can become an important new member of the worldwide SSI organization, and we want to do everything possible to help you love diving as much as we do.
The Open Water Diver Certification
Your ticket to the underwater world - the OPEN WATER DIVER certificate. Your SSI Student Manual, DVD and water training sessions combined will help you learn everything you need to know to start your adventure the fun and correct way. The SSI Student Manual includes study guide questions at the end of each section to help you retain your new knowledge and test your retention. During your SSI Open Water Diver training sessions you will learn all of the necessary skills and safe diving procedures to be a comfortable confident diver.
SSI Open Water Diver certification cards are recognized throughout the world. They entitle you to dive with other certified divers, enable you to purchase/rent equipment and obtain air fills anywhere you choose to dive.
Special Offer: Included with your OW course are 2 free fun dives, an opportunity to put your new-found skills into practice.
Course Schedule
| Day one |
Independent Study
In our air-conditioned classrooms, watch the informative and fun SSI videos and complete sections 1-5 of the self-study knowledge reviews.
Snorkeling/Kayaking
Join our staff on the boat for an afternoon of snorkeling or take one of our kayaks for a tour of the bay.

| Day two |
Classroom Session 1
One of our highly trained instructors reviews sections 1-3 of the knowledge reviews, offering you the opportunity to ask any questions.
Gear Demonstration and Assembly.
Get familiar with your diving equipment; learn how it works.
LUNCH BREAK
Confined Water Dive Session 1
Begin your scuba adventure in clear, calm water shallow enough to stand up in. Learn a few basic diving skills before enjoying your first open water experience.
Open Water Dive 1
Your first underwater tour is at a maximum depth of 12 meters/40 feet and will give you the opportunity to discover some of Utila's amazing aquatic life.

| Day three |
Classroom Session 2
This second classroom session continues with reviewing chapters 4 and 5 and a multiple choice final exam.
LUNCH BREAK
Confined Water Dive Session 2
This session is conducted in slightly deeper water - approximately 3-5 metres/9-15 feet - and continues your basic skill instruction.
Open Water Dive 2
After reviewing a couple of skills in open water, we take you on another underwater tour to a maximum depth of 12 metres/40 feet.

Open Water Dives 3 & 4
Two more chances to discover the underwater world, this time to a maximum depth of 18 meters/60 feet, and at the end of these dives...
Congratulations! You are a certified Open Water Diver!
Now you can enjoy your free fun dives or continue to improve your diving technique by taking the Advanced Adventurer or Advanced Open Water course. |
