If a baleada just won't satisfy, don't fret. Utila has a number of quality restaurants to satiate your gustatory cravings. Be forewarned: Portions are invariably enormous and the clock ticks a little more slowly on Utila. So order an appetizer and enjoy the leisurely pace of island time.
Dinner
The Grill: Located on main street, in front of Tranquila Bar. The Grill provides - you guessed it! - a full menu of items fresh off the grill, including chicken in beer sauce, generous hamburgers and fresh fish. Sides range from green beans with pecans to roasted red potatoes. The Grill also whips up some delicious bar snacks to share with friends while you soak up the sunset with a cocktail.
Island Cafe: Located on main street, in front of Coco Loco's. For heaping portions of island-style cuisine at reasonable prices, visit this waterfront cafe. Saturday nights feature roast pork, a tender and flavorful specialty not to be missed.
Mango Cafe: Located on Cola de Mico Road at the intersection with Losano Road. Set in a tropical garden, this patio-style restaurant boasts a traditional, wood-burning pizza oven and specializes in thin-crust pizzas with a myriad of toppings. Enjoy a drink from the bar and watch for bats sipping from the humming-bird feeders.
RJ's BBQ and Grill: Located opposite Alton's dive shop on main street. This popular BBQ starts early and serves big portions of steak, pork chops, fish and chicken. Everything comes with plenty of side dishes and is guaranteed to satisfy your hunger. RJ's opens only on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday at around 5:30 p.m. and finishes around 8 p.m., so make sure you arrive in plenty of time to enjoy the dish of your choice.
Breakfast and Lunch
Ultra Lite: An unusual find on Utila - savory Israeli food, including a fantastic falafal sandwich with hummus and garlic sauce in a freshly baked pita.
