What's a tropical island without beaches? For a chance to soak up the sun and for the bliss of doing absolutely nothing, head to one of Utila's lovely stretches of white sand

Chepes White Hole:

Located on the main street, after the neighborhood of Sandy Bay and before the neighborhood of Blue Bayou. Utila's longest stretch of accessible white sand draws a lively crowd on weekends and holidays. If you're lucky, you may just catch a traditional Utilian hog fry, where everyone is welcome and the food is plentiful.

The beach features two bar/snack stands, a public bathroom, and a giant champa-style bar.

Bando Beach:

Located off the main street, where the road ends at the old landing strip. Head to the right. This newly developed beach has all the accoutrements: a beautiful, covered bar area, showers, bathrooms, lockers and a range of water-sport activities. Feeling adventurous? Rent a kayak, paddleboat, banana boat, monster tube, sailboat, snorkeling equipment or jet skis. Feeling lazy? Grab a Salva Vida and lounge under one of the beach's lovely thatch-roof champas

Water Cay:

Located southwest of Utila. This tiny island has all the components of a tropical paradise: white sand, coconut trees and fabulous snorkeling just steps from the beach. Take a hammock, a good book, and some lunch for a few hours of perfect solace. The island's caretaker collects a nominal fee from visitors.

Pumpkin Hill Beach:

Located on the islands's north side. This out-of-the-way beach requires either a taxi ride or a fair amount of cycling and/or hiking but your efforts will be well worth it. Hang your hammock between two of the many shady almond trees and enjoy some R&R or explore the rugged coastline for lost treasure.
