It is possible to do a Discover Scuba Dive which is basically a try dive to see if you enjoy it. This dive can then be accredited towards the Scuba Diver and Open Water Certifications.

The Open Water Certification can be completed in 3.5 days

The cost of the Open Water is $249 for SSI or $269 for PADI, this includes all your equipment hire, manual, log book, cerification charge and a free t-shirt!! The only additional cost is Reef Tax

Reef Tax is paid by every diver on the island. The cost is $4 a day, for every day that you dive. The money from reef tax is used for the upkeep and maintenance of the chamber and the buoy system the dive boats use.

The Advance course is the certification after the Open Water Course. It consists of five adventure dives, two of which must be the Deep Dive and the Navagation Dive. Other dives are usually the night dive, peak performance buoyancy and naturalist dive, although other dives including photography are available. This course can be completed in 2 days. It’s price is 249.

It is possible to go straight form your Open Water Certification on to your Advanced. For continuing Education we offer a 10% discounts for our students.

The Rescue Course takes around three days to completed. Althoguh before starting this course you must have a current first aid certification with CPR training. If you do not have this it is possible to do an Emergency First Response Course here, this takes 0.5 a day.

Open Water
It is possible to complete your Open Water Confined and theory parts of the course prior to arriving on Utila. If this is the case you would only need to do the 4 Open Water dives to become certified. The cost of referalls vary depending on how much of the course still needs to be completed.

Advanced

If you have already completed one or a number of the Adventure Dives, you can make up the remaining dives required for your Advanced Certification

Utila Watersports has its own hotel with cheap dorm style accommodation $3 a night, or rooms with private bathrooms for $10 a night. This accommodation also has a kitchen.

If you are on a time constraint these Fun Dives can be cashed in for free nights accommodation in our hotel for the duration of your course.

Dive Master Training is the first step towards becoming a diving professional. This course is open to all, only requirements 18+ years and a minimum of 20 dives to start the course and 60 dives on completion.

Most arrive on the island by ferry, the Utila Princess usually runs two ferries a day, leaving La Ceiba on the mainland at 9.00am and 4.00pm and returning from Utila at 6.20 am and 2pm. These ferries are unfortunately subjected to cancellation in the rainy season due to bad weather. It is also possible to fly on to the island, for information regarding this contact Sosa Airlines.

PADI stands for Proffesional Association of Diving Instructors, it is the largest dive training organization in the world. Certification with PADI is for life.

Scuba Schools International is a worldwide diver certification agency and educational support organization. Recognized as an innovative leader in diver education, they create state-of-the-art training programs, training standards and materials for all levels of diver education. SSI along with PADI is a member of the RSTC which develops the training standards for courses. As they are members of the same training council, SSI and PADI fully recognize eachothers levels of training.
